Addiction Support Services
Addiction isn't one-dimensional. It's usually coupled with various family, health, and legal issues as well, making it a multi-faceted problem with lots of interconnected parts.
However, with our multi-disciplinary approach, we're able to untangle the complex world of addiction and set women and their children on a clear path toward a successful recovery.
In addition to the different treatment stages, we provide patients with various support groups that address specific issues. These include:
Caring Together holds weekly therapeutic/psychoeducational parenting groups based on the All Behavior Is Purposeful model developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
This model suggests that our behavior is our best attempt to meet our needs, and our total behavior consists of four components:
The Caring Together program helps parents assess and reorganize their behaviors to make sure their needs are properly met.
Ages and Stages
Ages and Stages is a parent-inclusive developmental assessment tool that our child development staff uses to assess the children receiving services through Caring Together's Learning Center.
This tool identifies strengths and potential developmental deficits in the children in our program. It also guides the child development staff in the individual and group curriculum that they provide to the children while their mothers are in treatment. We provide age-appropriate activities and parenting tips for the mothers in the program who are receiving individual and group parent education and therapy.
Caring Together has an on-site HIV counselor/educator available once a week to do HIV testing, counseling, education, and referral, both individually and in group settings.
For women who've suffered from physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, Caring Together offers a TREM (Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model) group.
Community Connections, a not-for-profit mental health agency, developed the theory-based group intervention program. At Caring Together, this group is run by three staff members who have been trained and certified in TREM.
