Tips for Preparing for Your Primary Care Appointment

Drexel Medicine's internal medicine providers at our Philadelphia-area internal medicine office are committed to providing you with the best possible care experience at every visit. In addition to providing the highest standard of health care, we strive to address your questions and concerns. One way that you can help to ensure that you get the most out of your appointment with your primary care doctor is by preparing for your visit in advance.

  • On the day of your visit, bring your insurance card and cardholder information, photo identification and payment for your co-pay.
  • Make a list of medications and supplements that you are currently taking (including doses and frequency) and bring it with you.
  • Develop a list of questions and any symptoms that you have (including where they are, how long they last and what aggravates or relieves them) and share it with your doctor or nurse practitioner.
  • If you are nervous about your appointment or concerned that you may forget important information then bring a friend or a family member who can take notes, drive or ask questions.

MyChart E-Visits with Drexel Internal Medicine

Drexel Internal Medicine provides e-visits to our patients to conveniently address less complex health concerns, without the need for in-person office visits. You must have a Drexel Medicine - MyChart account to request an e-visit with Drexel Internal Medicine.

E-Visit Steps:

  1. Sign up for or log into your Drexel Medicine - MyChart account
  2. Under “Visits,” choose “Start an E-Visit” from the drop-down menu
  3. Accept the terms and conditions to move to the next screen
  4. Follow the prompts to review your personal information, insurance, medications, history and allergies
  5. Select a reason for your e-visit, select your provider, and which pharmacy you would like to use
  6. Complete the questions about your symptoms
  7. Review your final information and click “Submit E-Visit”
  8. Need help? Review our support information online or call 215.762.5440.

In most instances, these issues may be addressed with an e-visit:

  • Cough
  • COVID-19
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Heartburn
  • Red Eye(s)
  • Sinus
  • Sore Throat
  • Urinary Problems
  • Vaginal Discharge

E-Visits are addressed within 48 hours of receipt by our office. If your provider needs to have an in-office visit to provide more appropriate care, you will be notified, otherwise your health concern will be addressed through MyChart e-visit messaging.

E-Visit patients must have one of the following primary insurance coverages:

  • IBX (Keystone HPE, IBC Personal Choice PA, Medigap Freedom, IBX 65 Special, Keystone 65 Medicare, Personal Choice 65)
  • Medicare
  • Aetna HMO

Completed e-visits are subject to co-pays or co-insurance from health insurance providers.

URGENT MEDICAL MATTERS:

COVID Policy for Patients and Visitors

Masking is now optional for all patients and visitors. Important exceptions are below. We encourage those who are immunocompromised to wear a mask. We require those with respiratory symptoms to also wear a mask. Please ask your health care provider if you have questions. Situations that REQUIRE masking for both employees and patients:

  • If you have had close contact with someone with Covid within the last 10 days.
  • If you have been diagnosed with Covid, flu or RSV within the last 10 days.
  • If you have been diagnosed with mpox within the last 4 weeks and your lesions are not fully healed.
  • If you have respiratory symptoms (i.e., runny nose, cough, fever, sore throat).

If cases increase again to high levels in the community, universal masking will be required.
