HIV Nutritional Services

Regular nutritional assessment and counseling are essential components in the management of HIV disease. The Partnership has a full-time nutritionist who specializes in the very diverse nutritional needs of people with HIV. Available at regular medical visits, or by special appointment, the nutritionist will evaluate current diet and nutritional needs and develop a plan that meets individual needs.

Services offered include:

  • Diabetic education
  • Diet counseling (HIV and non-HIV-related disorders)
  • Food safety instruction
  • Group classes
  • Nutritional assessment
  • Referral to community food resources

A proactive approach is used to provide patients with skills to maintain a healthy nutritional status.

Nutritional groups are available to provide the latest information in an interactive setting. A diabetes support group is offered to address the challenges of HIV positive individuals who have the additional task of managing diabetes.
